‘We are constantly dealing with different circumstances, which make my job exciting’

My favourite moment of my working day is when I finish with a walk through the extensive test plot field while watching the sun go down behind the hills. This moment is really precious to me and gives me the feeling of enjoyment. Within my job for the Breeding department I am in control of planting, growing and testing new varieties on the test plot in Spain. We evaluate selections to see if they are appropriate for commercial use. This means no day is the same; we are constantly dealing with different circumstances, such as weather conditions or the growing capacity of plants. Each time you have to respond to these changes, that keeps my job exciting.

I always liked working with plants and studied Agriculture, which is why working at Driscoll’s is perfect. I joined Driscoll’s in 2004 and so far it has been a wonderful experience and a great opportunity to see the development of the plants and the test plot in general. When the test plot in Spain first started there was nothing more than a couple of tunnels, throughout the years our test plot has grown significantly. Now there are even plans to make this one of the most important test plots within the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. I am proud to be part of this development and look forward to coordinating further activities as a preparation for the future.

My personal goal is to make our Spanish test plot a reference and showcase for Driscoll’s as a company.
