Our Product Leaders are responsible for the long-term strategic road maps for our delicious berries which leads to creating a viable five-year plan for Driscoll’s and our growers. Our Product leaders are in close contact with various stakeholders to understand future consumer needs and can translate this into a long-term commercial category plan per berry. 

As Product Leader for strawberries, you connect with different departments such as Business Planning, Operations, Applied Research and R&D to develop, create and execute a supply solution for the projected demand. In this role, you are responsible for the strategic plan and accountable for the annual operating plan as well as certain KPIs such as revenue, volume, price and most importantly fruit margins. You supervise the profitability of all deals of our Enterprise Business Model and initiate projects to differentiate and find new ways to create value in your berry category.

Responsibilities

In the role of Product Leader you have the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Understand future consumer needs and market trends and translate them into strategic priorities;
  • Work cross-functionally to develop and implement the five-year Functional Berry Plan;
  • Build a strategic demand and supply plan through the Integrated Business Planning Long & Mid-term processes;
  • Be responsible to the annual operating plan of your category, proving the required information on volumes, prices and costs;
  • Identify opportunities on both the commercial and production side, and drive them through the organization;
  • Initiate, lead, present and evaluate Business Cases related to your category through the Mid/Long-term IBP process;
  • Drive innovation through for the category through R&D, Applied Research, Category Management and Marketing departments;
  • Build and maintain relationships across various functions and departments within Driscoll’s to secure knowledge and to optimize processes;
  • Steer the five-year development of our enterprise business model with main stakeholders including Operations and FP&A; 
  • Manage long-term supply and demand to ensure profitable deals for both the grower and Driscoll’s;
  • Annually revise all the grower deals to ensure the long-term sustainability, and take actions if and when needed;
  • Manage various stakeholders in the organization to build consensus;
  • Lead and participate on key strategic projects and initiatives to drive growth;
  • Maintain stakeholders informed about the key developments on your categories.

Candidate profile

Education & training

  • Completed bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in areas related to Agribusiness, Marketing and/or Management.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in Product Management, Marketing, Category Management, Consultancy or Sales related roles;
  • Strategic mindset with good understanding of food value chains;
  • Experience within Fruit & Vegetable, Fresh Produce or FMCG is a big advantage;
  • Experience in international dynamic work environments;

Other

  • Excellent language skills in English & another European language such as German, French or Spanish is highly desirable;
  • Understanding of basic Finance is a plus;
  • Good Excel, PowerPoint and Planning Tools required. 
  • This position will work from a DEMEA location in the Netherlands (Breda), Spain (Moguer) or Portugal (Zambujeira region).
  • This is a flexible and dynamic position and includes travelling (+/- 20%).
